To raise funds for their graduation, the grade 8s at Prince Charles Public School had a carwash & we told them we would match their earnings. The kids raised $405 with their carwash & Leon’s matched it with $405 extra dollars.

The Leon’s Dream Team participated in our local Relay for Life walk June 19th to 20th, raising over $14,300 for cancer research. Leon’s was the second highest fundraiser from almost 150
Leon’s Trenton welcomes its new neighbours, the YMCA with a $5,000 donation of furniture and appliances for the Y’s family spaces for the community to enjoy.

Terry Leon, our CEO is visiting every Leon’s store across Canada this year to mark our 100th birthday. He came to Trenton on April 23rd for a birthday party celebration with gifts for all our associates.

On June 23rd, 2009, a bronze statue, depicting Ablan Leon sitting in a living room was unveiled in Chippawa Park, Welland Ontario. This statue commemorates the birthplace of Leon’s Furniture Company in its 100th year. The sculpture was made my renowned sculptor Timothy Schmalz.

Saturday July 18th Leon’s Trenton & The Ontario Electronic Stewardship held a TV Roundup. We collected more than 600 TVs to be recycled & properly disposed of – all for FREE. Plus there were Free Hot dogs & popcorn! We would like to thank everyone who brought in their old TVs. Thank you for helping us help the environment.

Friday August 14, 2009 Leon’s participated as a Gold Sponsor in the Ed Puchniak Memorial Golf Tournament, benefitting the Trenton Memorial Hospital. We take pride in supporting the Hospital Foundation in their many events throughout the year.

November 16th to 20th Leon’s Trenton staff members helped out at the Habitat for Humanity Home in Picton, Ontario. We were in charge of painting the walls, doors and trim. The house looks great & we are happy that we were a part of it.
